Carol Lynley - "'Twas The Night Before Christmas"
Carol Lynley playfully recites the classic X-Mas poem "'Twas the Night Before X'Mas" - at part of the camp holiday event A JOHN WATERS CHRISTMAS presented by imp-esssario Marc Huestis at San Francisco's majestic Castro Theatre in San Francisco, Dec 13, 2002. The reading is filled with sly innuendo with organ (pun intended) accompaniment by David Hegarty. As a special bonus, at the end Lynley stunningly recreates a dramatic scene from her classic hit THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE. It's a scream!

Hairdressers Against AIDS Launches
On Wednesday some 500 hairdressers from across the country are trading in their shears for red ribbon-themed accessories and flipcams to pound the pavement in support of the U.S. launch of Hairdressers Against AIDS, a global campaign sponsored by the L'Oreal Foundation in partnership with UNESCO and the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. The initiative, which began in South Africa in 2001, uses the universal bond between hairdressers and their clients throughout a multibillion-dollar industry to promote dialogue about HIV prevention in nearly 30 countries in every region of the world, including China, Russia, Brazil, France, the U.K., and Indonesia.
Streaming videos and PSAs in Times Square, in taxis, and on the campaign’s website and Facebook page represent the beginnings of an estimated $1 million effort that will also rely on trade shows, advertising, and educational materials to spark 110 million conversations about HIV/AIDS in the United States in 2011. The initiative will tap some 500,000 hairdressers in the L'Oreal network who speak to 20 million clients per week.
Sponsors call it perhaps the largest HIV/AIDS mobilization campaign in U.S. history.

"Lover" Official Music Video - Tom Goss
"Lover" tells a story very rarely told: of the loss endured by partners of gay servicemembers who are killed in battle.
The video features Goss as the bereaved partner of an army soldier (DC actor Ben Horen) killed while on duty in Afghanistan. Among those playing medics who come to the aid of the wounded soldier are several former servicemembers who were discharged under the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy: Mike Almy, David Hall, and Danny Hernandez, all of whom are active members of SLDN. Keith Bryant stars as a fellow soldier.
The video, Goss's fourth, was filmed in DC and Alexandria. is being directed by DC residents Aram Vartian and Michael Key of DC; Dylan Comstock is director of photography.

Catholic Mother Wears A Rainbow Pin Daily
...I wear a rainbow pin every day because...
· I believe that the rainbow is a symbol of a promise from God.
· I believe we are all His children, and have an inheritance in that promise.
· I believe that wearing it reminds those who would deny my child a place at His table that they don't own the guest list.
· I believe that wearing it gives hope to a gay youngster that there are adults who can love him.
· I believe that wearing it gives parents an open door to talk to me about their gay children; and that leads to affirmed and healthy children.
· I believe that it starts the conversation with those who are ignorant of the struggles of gay folk.
· So, if you see me in your communion line with a rainbow cross, or pin, or peace sign; I would hope you realize that wearing the pin is my way of reaching out to the marginalized, and reminding them that they are welcome, loved.
· When I serve as extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, I wear it to remind me not to judge anyone who comes forward, but instead to share with them the table of the Lord. We are all God's children, He loves us all.

18 Anti-Gay Groups and Their Propaganda
Even as some well-known anti-gay groups like Focus on the Family moderate their views, a hard core of smaller groups, most of them religiously motivated, have continued to pump out demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities. These groups’ influence reaches far beyond what their size would suggest, because the “facts” they disseminate about homosexuality are often amplified by certain politicians, other groups and even news organizations. Of the 18 groups profiled, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) will be listing 13 next year as hate groups (eight were previously listed), reflecting further research into their views; those are each marked with an asterisk. Generally, the SPLC’s listings of these groups is based on their propagation of known falsehoods — claims about LGBT people that have been thoroughly discredited by scientific authorities — and repeated, groundless name-calling. Viewing homosexuality as unbiblical does not qualify organizations for listing as hate groups. See full list here.

Al Franken: Safe Schools for LGBT Students Is A Right
At a press conference on November 18 U.S. Senator Al Franken (D-MN) introduced the Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA), which protects students from harassment, bullying, and violence based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. The SNDA has 29 Senate cosponsors. Its companion bill authored by Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo) also enjoys broad support. Franken was joined at the conference by Minnesotan Tammy Aaberg. In July 2010 her 15-year-old son Justin committed suicide after prolonged bullying at school about his being gay. Aaberg told the audience that she had never realized the torment Justin had experienced until his friends told her. She discovered the Anoka-Hennepin School District provided no definitions of LGBT bullying or guidelines for intervention.
