AIDS at 25 - 1989 ACT-UP SF March - GLBT Historical Society

  1. This video brought tears to my eyes because I was diagnosed with HIV in 1990, not long after this video was made. I lost many very close friends and aquaintences, and the gay community on the whole lost many 'shiny people' from this terrible epidemic and simply because it was percieved as a 'gay' disease and even thought by many of the conservative Christians who backed the Reagan/Bush administrations, to be a well deserved punishment from God for the sins of sodomy!
The only reason I am still alive today is because the 'cocktail' drugs came out just as I was on my 'deathbed' in the hospital, and I very slowing, but gradually gained my health to what it is today. Currently, I remain, after 5 years steady, 'undectectable'. Thank you to all who support the HIV/AIDS causes and those who vote in favor of doing something positive to help stop the epidemic worldwide.
